| Education was so
important to the federal government, that by law, within every
section of land opened for settlement, an area was set aside for a
schoolhouse. The Board of Ramsey County Commissioners established
six school districts in 1849. The first school was built in 1851
in Rose Township, know as the Robair district, at a cost of
$800.00. Schools in Lake Como district and the Gibbs School
followed. Other schools in district included: Brimhall,
Lauderdale, Lexington, Lake Owasso, McCarron's Lake, and North
Heights. |
